Beta and reliability, let’s talk about it.
I have been working on the project for roughly one-and-a-half cycles now and one thing that I noticed in TBS and SoF are countless players that want to participate in the organized Beta testing. Inevitably, we make our selections and the boards light up with allegations of favoritism and random other allegations. Let me explain to you the simple logic we use to narrow down the potential candidates…
We have a limited time to test the content that we plan to include in each expansion. So we tend to work with players or guilds that have proven in past organized play tests to be reliable. What does reliable mean?
1. Organizing and committing to a play time and location.
2. Showing up on time and in full attendance to the event.
3. Giving feedback to the designer that is working with the player/ group.
That’s generally it. The real issue we run into is that people want to participate but are unable to meet one or more of the above conditions. We have been making an honest effort in welcoming new players/ guilds to the testing and some have worked out perfect, others… not so much.
At the end of the day, we completely understand if you cannot commit to one of the above requirements. Due to the limited time for feedback and balancing we have to make sure the product is ready and that requires very reliable players/ groups/ guilds to be a part of the play test.
If you feel that you meet the listed requirements, please make sure you contact us around our Beta time so that we can work you into the fold. Trust me; we want as many people as possible to help!
